At Girls Love Pearls, we offer a professional pearl restringing service in Brisbane, restoring both the beauty and integrity of your treasured jewellery. Whether your strand has broken, stretched, or simply needs refreshing, each piece is carefully restrung in-house by experienced hands.

Over time, silk threads weaken from wear, oils, and environmental exposure. Regular restringing ensures your pearls remain secure, evenly spaced, and protected from damage.

When Should You Restring

Your Pearls?

If you’re unsure whether your pearls need restringing, here are some common signs:

The thread between pearls is visible or stretched
Gaps have formed between knots
The strand feels loose or uneven
The clasp is worn or difficult to use
The piece has broken

As a general rule, frequently worn pearl strands should be restrung every 3 to 4 years to maintain their longevity.

Our Pearl Restringing Process

When you first bring your pearls in, our team will carefully assess them and advise on their type and suitability for restringing. For example, simulated or man-made strands may not warrant restringing unless they hold sentimental value.

We will then book your piece in, take your details, and provide an estimated turnaround time (typically 2–3 weeks).

Once your restringing is complete, we will contact you via phone or SMS to let you know your piece is ready for collection.

Customisation Options

We can also elevate or redesign your piece during restringing:

Add gold, silver, or gemstone feature beads
Replace or upgrade your clasp
Convert necklaces into bracelets (or vice versa)
Create multi-strand twists

Knotted vs Unknotted

Restringing

Knotted restringing (recommended for most pearl strands):

Prevents pearls from rubbing against each other
Protects against total loss if the strand breaks
Creates a classic, luxury finish

Unknotted restringing:

Suitable for certain bead styles
Offers a more minimal, contemporary look

For some beads that present difficulties with inconsistent string hole sizes, and for small pearls (5mm and less in size), a 10% surcharge may apply.
